What we do

What PreferredUs Does: Preferred Sources and Reviews, Set Up for You

We get your readers to pick you on Google and your customers to review you on Google. You can do the first part free. We'll do all of it for you, on any website.

In one line: PreferredUs puts two asks in front of the people who already like you. Readers get "pick us as a preferred source on Google." Customers get "leave us a Google review." We build the asks, put them on your site and in your job texts, and show you what they did.

The short version

In 2025 Google started letting people choose the sites they want to see more of. A reader who picks you sees your posts more often in Top Stories, and Google says a picked site can show with a badge in AI Overviews and AI Mode. Google also says those readers click a site they picked about twice as often.

Almost nobody asks their readers to do it. The ones who do usually bury the ask in one article. We put it on every post, and in front of every customer you finish a job for.

Four steps: you send your site, we add it to every post, we test it on a phone, you get the proof
The whole thing, from your side: send us your site. That's it.

The free part

The maker on our home page builds the preferred source link or button for your site. Type your domain, pick a look, copy the code for WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Ghost, Blogger or plain HTML. No sign up. It runs in your browser, and we never see the domain you type.

We also give away 20 stock photos for posts about it, and a plain guide to what the reader actually sees.

We set it up on your site

Most owners don't want to open their theme files, and they shouldn't have to. For $99 per site we do it. Here's what your reader will see once we're done:

A blog post with the Add us as a preferred source on Google button under the byline
1. The ask sits under your byline on every post, in your colors.
Google's preferred sources page on a phone with the site ticked
2. One tap opens Google with your site already filled in. They tick it.
Top stories on a phone with the picked site first
3. From then on, Google shows that reader your posts more often.

Before you pay, we check that Google can list your site at all. Google only takes whole domains and subdomains, not folders like /blog, and says sites that don't publish regularly may not show up. If yours isn't there yet, we tell you, and we tell you what would fix it.

Review requests

Here's the part most review tools miss: the people who just paid you are the ones most likely to pick you as a source too. So we ask them both on one page.

A thank-you text from the business after the job is marked paid
The job is marked done, and one short text goes out from your business.
A page with Leave a Google review and See more from us on Google buttons
One page. Review first, then pick us on Google.

Review requests are $29 a month per location. Every customer gets the same page, happy or not, because Google doesn't allow sending only the happy ones. Nobody gets a discount for a review, because Google and the FTC don't allow that either. Reminders stop the moment someone taps, and STOP ends it.

Reviews on your site

A business website with a grid of review cards
Your newest Google reviews in a grid on your site, refreshed weekly.

The reviews widget comes with review requests. It's a grid, not a slider, so nobody has to swipe to read it, and it loads after your page so it doesn't slow you down.

A monthly report with bars for asks sent, opened, tapped and picked
On the 1st you get one email that shows what happened.

The Google work around it

Asks only work if the rest of your Google presence holds up. We do three more things, as part of a Clickflame Local SEO plan or as a one time job:

Website platforms we work on
All of it works on any website.

What we won't do

  • Promise rankings. Picking a source changes results only for the reader who picked it.
  • Hide reviews from unhappy customers, or reward anyone for a review.
  • Tell you Google made us. We're independent and not tied to Google.
  • Rename your Google listing.

Who we are

PreferredUs is built by Clickflame, a web design and SEO studio in Long Beach, California, working since 2004. We run the same preferred source ask on our own blogs. More on the about page.

Send us your site and what you want. We'll email back with what we'd do and the price.
